Indigenous Resurgence Moon
Welcome to the 2019 Lunar New YEar
The Lunar New Year is an international celebration of the lunar calendar's new year, a calendar that uses 13 moons instead of 12 months. The local W̱SÁNEĆ [wh-saay-nuch] people know the first moon of the lunar calendar as ṈIṈENE [ngeeng-uh-ne], the child moon.
The UVic Native Students Union hosts an annual series of events in this moon/month called the Indigenous Resurgence Moon. This is an event to promote Indigenous excellence and resurgence. Check out our calendar of events, and our facebook page for more information.
