tânisi kitatamiskâtinâwaw! Hello everyone!
Lauren Aimoe nitisiyihkâson! ohci niya assin’skowitiniwak. My name is Lauren Aimoe. I come from the people of the rocky area, also called the Woodland Cree, and I am a registered member (Status First Nations) of Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation in northern Saskatchewan. My family comes from the northern and rural community of Sandy Bay in Saskatchewan (fun fact, there are two Sandy Bays, one in Saskatchewan and the other in Manitoba)!
I am a 4th going on 5th year undergraduate student studying Neurobiology and Psychology with a minor in Indigenous Studies. I am passionate about Indigenous health and wellness, and hope to serve my community through my future work as an Indigenous physician. I hope to begin medical school and start my journey towards an MD in Fall 2026. I am passionate about political advocacy, grassroots organizing, and community care, and have been an involved and vocal member of the UVic Indigenous community over the past four years.
I have had the honour and privilege of serving as Firekeeper of the UVic Native Students Union for the past year and I was re-elected at the end of March to serve a second term. Through my work as Firekeeper, I have overseen a variety of critically important endeavours in the realms of university-level advocacy and NSU internal organization.
In my free time, I enjoy running outside and occasionally on treadmills, creating beadwork, learning my ancestral Cree language, spending time with my community, and being by, on, or in the water.
kahkiyaw niwahkomâkanak hiy hiy, all my relations.

Tansi,
My name is Anagya Grace Durohcer. I am Cree-Metis originally from Peace River, Alberta and a first-generation Afro-Caribbean Jamaican immigrant to Turtle Island. I also have mixed European (Scottish, French and English) settler ancestry. I was born and raised on the East Coast on Mississauga’s of the Credit, Anishanbeg, Chippewa, Haudenosaunee and Wendat territory. Today I am a guest and learner on Xwsepsum, Songhees, and W̱SÁNEĆ homelands to which I raise my hands too for the family and community I have found here.

You can often find me with friends, listening to music, running around the First Peoples House or UVSS, and, most of all, giggling.
I am extremely grateful to be able to represent and advocate for the needs of Indigenous students here at UVic! If there is anything that I can help you with I will always try my hardest! Hiy hiy ^_−☆
